Office Supply Knolling
Pencil geeks, the Blackwing Pearl is now available on Pencils.com and the Pencils.com Amazon site.
Tested.com on Etsy, Indie Crafts, and Knolling
I love tested.com‘s videos. They often talk about things I really enjoy like Etsy, knolling, and the maker movement.
I’m looking forward to the Palomino Blackwing Pearl Pencil that drops tomorrow.
Snap Circuits Lights
Elenco Snap Circuits Lights. My kids really had fun with this last night.
My Workbench
Since so many of us like to peek inside the make spaces of others, here is one of my workbenches. I have five workbenches in my shop. This is my primary bench. Jewelry, electronics, and pretty much any type of detail work happen here. This is the bench I gravitate to when I’m thinking or just busying my hands. It’s where I keep some favorite things.
I save glass bottles. I toss things in them all the time and randomly. Going through them makes me feel like an archeologist. Like so many kids, I wanted to be one of those.
I love small parts bins. I also love small parts. Satisfaction.
My torch has a name. Flame Princess.
I love Jasper, especially Ocean Jasper and Polychrome Jasper.
Yes, that is a Red Swingline.
Nothing like a good piece of hickory.
That big hunk of glowing mineral is a Himalayan rock salt lamp.
And since I just got an RGB LED strip to play with, here are some shots under different colored lighting. I enjoy watching rocks and beads change with the lighting.
Fresh Shiny
Things that have captured my interest recently.
Currently – Replace Chrome’s new tab screen with time and weather.
Moves – iOS pedometer and movement tracker with nice storyline visualization.
Komodo IDE 8 – Digging the fast open shortcuts, minimap, open files side pane, floating panes, and the visual refresh in this update.
Rdio iOS – The latest update makes an already beautiful UI even more stunning.
Alfred 2 – I use this constantly. Workflows in version 2 make it all the more useful.
Feedly – The upcoming retirement of Google Reader prompted me to finally look for a new feed reader. Feedly looks great and fits my workflow just fine.
Makedo – I had somehow overlooked the existence of this until recently. Fun with cardboard.
Cvault Storage Containers – Sealed, humidity controlled containers.
Mophie PowerStation Duo - This now goes with me whenever I travel.
My First Vitamix Blends a Salad
Finally got enough pennies together to get a Vitamix. I got a factory reconditioned one straight from Vitamix.
Good things are inside, good things.
Look at that engine.
The cookbook is pretty nice.
And a little welcome pamphlet that includes a warranty certificate.
Let’s clean this thing. Add a couple drops of soap and some water.
Set it to high and flip it on. Damn those blades go fast.
Let’s inaugurate this thing with a blended salad.
Some rough chopping and then load the blender with the more liquidy bits closest to the blade.
Flip it on and wait a few seconds.
So fast, a tear of joy might have slid down my cheek.
To your health. Cheers!
Magic Flight Launch Box
Got a new toy, the Launch Box. Good times ahead.
