2.2.1 Release Candidate

WordPress 2.2.1 is almost ready. 2.2.1 fixes bugs in widgets, xmlrpc, atom feeds, and other areas. 2.2.1 also addresses security issues found in xmlrpc and phpmailer. We’ll have more on that in the release notes.

A release candidate is available for testing. Try it out, and drop a comment letting us know if you have any problems with it.

All changes made since 2.2 can be viewed here. A list of all bugs fixed in 2.2.1 is here.

Assuming no nasty bugs are discovered in the RC, 2.2.1 should be released within the next couple days.

I have been waiting for this to come out. 2.2 may have fixed and added a lot of things, but it seems that it broke just as many things as it created.

Here is hoping that 2.2.1 is a happy experience.

Wee!!!! I really love how WordPress is developed. When a newer version is released, there are so many features. I hope WordPress will soon become the best.

Thanks for the announcement. I’ve found 2.2 to be very stable and performance is good. I might hold off on 2.2.1 and wait a bit as the bugs in 2.2 haven’t affected me yet.

Any word on 2.0.11? I noticed RC3 available.

Also, the 2.1.x line is no longer being updated/supported… correct?

Glad to see the “widget fix” is being made so quickly after the 2.2 update. You guys are doing a phenomenal job with keeping up on what amounts to be a truly robust CMS program.
