I am coming from DotClear to WordPress. A new importer from DC to WP is available which uses the flatexport file from DC1 or DC2. A recovery feature allows the import of big blogs.

Ryan -
will the LJ importer be able to grab the "friends only" and whatnot posts? I know before I came here, a far ammount of entries were that friend's only view. Be cool if these were also grabbed but queried (sp) for final import, exclude, or password protect them. Just a thought.

[...] Wordpress has all sorts of new importers. Now you can essentially import your underpant into Wordpress, and they are working on a bra import tool. Okay, it’s not that wild, but they certainly have import tools to blog interfaces I’ve never heard about (although I tried and examined most available blog scripts) - anyone heard anything about Dotclear? Seems to be some disgusting French affair. [...]

Wow, that's pretty cool.

However, Dotclear is soon to release a major upgrade - aka 2.0 - so there will be more than probably heavy database structure changes.

Also, since dotclear targets mostly French blogs, there's a potentially disturbing problem : WP 2.0 does not work on biggest French ISP servers (free.fr) when upgraded from a working 1.5.
There seems to be a problem with users role : once logged in, you have sufficient rights to see no page but the dashboard.
A fresh 2.0 install works, though.

I can provide an FTP account with those 2 wp install to check by yourself if you want to have a look.

The process to upgrade from WP1.5 to WP2.0 would have been more simple if a Wordpress Importer would have been done.

You only have had to create a new MySQL DB and import your old database to the new.

I did the process of upgrade crossing my fingers because I didn't know if all were going to be right.
