[...] Reading these three blogs lead to starting my own blog using Wordpress. A big thank you goes to Matt Mullenweg, Ryan Boren and all the developers who created and maintain this excellent, FREE, blog software program. If you’re new to Wordpress there is an excellent support system of bloggers who contribute to the extensive Codex and who patiently answer questions on the Support Forum. But when I was first learning I stumbled upon a person that really helped me with the basics of CSS and other Wordpress stuff (of which I was clueless); Podz. Here is his WordPress Guide and his blog. One of the invaluable things that Podz taught me was to download the WebDeveloper toolbar in Firefox to directly tinker with and edit the CSS. Thank you Matt, Ryan, all at Wordpress and Podz! After a long search I decided to use the great K2 Wordpress theme created by Michael Heilemann and Chris J. Davis. It is clean, flexible and easy to use (although if anyone can tell me why my trackback narrative doesn’t show up…). As with Wordpress, the K2 theme as a lot of people who support and answer newbie questions at this forum. For me one person who has really helped me with K2 is Paul Stamatiou. A perfect example of his great articles supporting K2 is the first in a series called Customizing K2. Thanks Michael, Chris and Paul and all the K2 community! [...]

Just took a look at the WordPress 2.0.1 roadmap, and 99% of the issues flagged for 2.0.1 are resolved with only one remaining [via Ryan on WordPress]. So hopefully we'll have a bugfix after not too long. I've been wanting to move up, but jumping on...

WP-bug ?
If you use the "theme options" on the default theme, you loose every possibility to ever use a "self"-made header-image (replacing the kubrickheader.jpg). i'm totally stranded because of this. i'd looove to have a "revert"-button, to get my own image back again. those "theme options" of the default theme seem to need a work-over. hope that gets fixed in 2.0.1

I haven't updated to 2.0 yet, with my midterms I wouldn't have the time to spend an afternoon bugfixing if something were to go wrong.
But I am waiting for 2.0.1 to make the jump!

Indeed, many comments above are pretty negative. I find that a shame. You probably spend a lot of time on this project, and the overall result is superb. Yes, there are a few glitches every once and a while, but then again, the software is FREE!

And in my opinion, if you don't pay for it, you don't have the right to complain. You of course can give constructive criticism, but often it's just downright "bitching". Which is a shame.

Hey Ryan,

I just noticed that a lot of the comments above (including mine) are fairly negative. That's got to be a little challenging to deal with sometimes.

I'd like to say that a) the upgrade process was amazingly easy, and very smooth, b) the software is incredible, and c) you've made blogging fun again with Akismet killilng all the comment spam.

Thanks for making Wordpress and making it freely available.

[...] Well, I've upgraded to Wordpress 2.0 – despite the fact that they're probably about to release 2.0.1 - and so far so good. Most (all?) of the changes are things which aren't visible to you lot. It seems generally nicer to use, though the WYSIWYG editor doesn't like Safari. *shrug*. The new Admin pages are a bit ugly. *shrug again*. [...]
