InstaPundit says the airlines are committing suicide. As Glenn notes in his commentary, air travel sucked before 09/11 and it sucks even more now. The suckage is to the point of being unbearable. Airlines have done everything they can to drive away customers. For example, they pressure you to check baggage without giving any incentive. They give only disincentive. They mishandle and lose baggage and offer no insurance. Tell me again why I should check that baggage? Because it’s more convenient for you? And here I was thinking I was the customer.

Airlines act as if you are flying on their sufferance. Screw that and screw them. Disrespecting and neglecting your customers in the name of security (a demonstrably false security at that) is stupid and fatal. Glenn summnarizes succinctly and accurately, “Screw these guys. Let ‘em go under. The startup airlines that will follow will surely be better.”
